Forza Horizon 5 PlayStation: Dirt Racing Event Locations & Interactive Tracking Guide

Dirt Racing Events in Forza Horizon 5 span 34 confirmed locations across two worlds — 20 in Mexico and 14 in the Rally Adventure expansion's Sierra Nueva — making dirt the most geographically spread race discipline in the game.

All 34 locations are included on our Mexico and Sierra Nueva interactive maps for Forza Horizon 5.

Unlocking Dirt Racing: Jungle Expedition First

Mexico's Dirt Racing events are locked behind the Jungle Expedition (Horizon Wilds outpost).

Complete the expedition — exploring the abandoned airfield and jungle — and all 20 Mexico dirt events unlock simultaneously alongside the "AWDyssey" Bronze trophy.

Sierra Nueva's 14 dirt events are available through the Rally Adventure DLC outpost on arrival in that region.

Two Format Types: Trails and Scrambles

The naming convention in the guide tells you what kind of event to expect before you start:

  • Trails — longer point-to-point routes covering significant terrain across Mexico's biomes. Named events include Baja California Trail, Montaña Trail, Desierto Trail, Cordillera Trail, Cascada Trail, Tapalpa Trail, Fuera Del Camino Trail, Barranca Trail, Bajío Trail, and Tulum Trail in Mexico; and Forest Trail, Three Hill, Tres Colinas, Cascada Fuerte, and more in Sierra Nueva. Trails prioritise sustained off-road driving over distance rather than technical lap consistency.

  • Scrambles — tighter, faster events that often loop back through an area or race through a compact zone. Named events include Caldera Scramble, Mulegé Town Scramble, San Juan Scramble, River Scramble, La Selva Scramble, Teotihuacán Scramble, El Pípila Scramble, Horizon Baja Scramble, Mangrove Scramble in Mexico, and Desert Scramble, Rugged Dunes, and others in Sierra Nueva.

The Gauntlet: Mexico's Ultimate Dirt Race

The Gauntlet is the extended culminating dirt race across Mexico — the longest individual dirt event in the base game.

There is no dedicated PS5 trophy for winning it, but it counts toward the "Racing and Pacing and Plotting the Course" Gold trophy (win 80 different Race Events in Mexico).

Its length makes it more demanding than any standard Trail or Scramble; plan for a longer session and prioritise a fully tuned rally car.

The Trophy That Needs All of Them

"Racing and Pacing and Plotting the Course" (Gold) — win 80 different Race Events in Mexico.

All 20 Mexico Dirt Racing Events count toward this total alongside Road Racing, Cross Country, Street Racing, and Drag Racing events.

Winning all 20 Mexico dirt events contributes 20 of the required 80 distinct race wins.

Best Cars for Dirt Racing

AWD drivetrains with rally suspension upgrades dominate both Trails and Scrambles.

The key tuning priorities are high off-road handling, raised ride height for ground clearance over rocks and roots, and soft suspension settings that absorb rough terrain without transferring to wheel spin.

Purpose-built rally cars — Subaru Impreza, Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution, Ford Fiesta RS Rally — are strong stock platforms for dirt events at any class level.

For Sierra Nueva's longer rally stages, consistent grip across mixed surfaces (gravel, sand, and grass) matters more than peak acceleration on short sections.
